Janie Franz
Janie Franz, the American writing for well known server iBluegrass.com, has become a regular writer for our website. Over the next months you can expect her articles with interviews, band info and CD reviews. She is able to interview any musician or band so if you have any wishes, mail me about it. You will have chance to read her articles in english original or czech translation. Except the articles written for our website you can find here Janie's articles taken from iBluegrass.com.
Janie Franz still calls herself a Southerner (she was born in Tennessee) though she has spent half her life living in North Dakota. She got her first writing check when she was 16, and it took her nearly thirty years to get another one. Since then, her work has appeared in newspapers, magazines, and online, both in this country and overseas. She boasts a rabid curiosity and has written about everything from chefs and dentists to wind energy and straw bale houses to beauty and art. But her real love is music, though she can only play a little blues harmonica herself and doesn't dare sing in public. She has been able to score celebrity interviews with music icons like B.B. King and Dr. Ralph Stanley. She has been happily married to a musician for 27 years, and they have a daughter who is an artist and a son who works as a sous chef in between gigs with his own band. Janie Franz is the co-director of Where the Spirit Dances Creative Arts Center. It will open this September and offer classes in ethnic dance, art, writing, and personal empowerment.
